Why this reference band?

We set the floor at the lowest industrial tariff on offer in the EU single market, because that is the price industrial buyers in Cyprus are competing against. We set the ceiling at the price above which compute-intensive work becomes cheaper to run in another country, even after allowing for the added network delay.

Why this reference band?

We set the ceiling at 70%, roughly the share of renewable electricity implied across the EU by the 2030 target in the Renewable Energy Directive. We chose it so that the metric can be compared across countries; the Republic of Cyprus has not adopted it as a target.
