Limitations

The figure dates from 2022, so it does not describe robot use today. The survey excludes finance and public services, and robots do not necessarily use AI.

What we still need to know

The robotics figure is from 2022 and does not show current installations, their level of AI autonomy or their reliability. Engineering research covers more than robotics.

How progress could be measured

Proposed measures for future data collection. No values have been published for them.

  • Successful tasks per supervised operating hour, including human interventions.
  • Safety events and performance outside ideal test conditions.
